Bel Cantanti Opera presents
G. Puccini's La Boheme
A famous romantic Puccini's masterpiece, performed in commemoration of his 150th birthday. Libretto by Luidgi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on Scenes de la Vie de Boheme by Henri Murger (read the novel). A beautiful production concentrated on a simple story about the life of six young Parisians. This is a story about falling in love for the first time, a love that ends in tragedy. Opera is sung in Italian with English super titles. Fully staged and costumed. Accompanied by the piano and string quartet. Read the synopsis of the opera. (click here)

Auditions!
Dear friends of Bel Cantanti and opera lovers,
Bel Cantanti Opera is announcing auditions for its 2008 - 2009 season. Singers are needed for Verdi's La Traviata ( concert performance) ( November-December 2008) and Donizetti's Don Pasquale ( March - April 2009). Interested singers should submit an application, headshot, resume by email to Dr. Katerina Souvorova at katerina@belcantanti.com.
CD recordings and $15 application fee should be submitted to Bel Cantanti Opera, 13007 Prairie View Place, Germantown, MD 20874, being postmarked by May 10, 2008. Singers selected for auditions will be notified of their audition time via email.
Auditioners should be prepared to sing two arias, one of which must be from the season's repertoire (if interested in the principal role). Singers selected for the first round of auditions will have a music rehearsal on May 31 (reading through the opera). A small ensemble SATB will be selected for the chorus of La Traviata and Don Pasquale.
If an accompanist is needed, he will be provided for an additional $25.
Auditions are going to be held on Saturday, May 17 at the Randolph Theater in Silver Spring, 4010 Randolph Rd, Silver Spring, MD (click for directions).
